5th mobility Erasmus+ to the National Library of Spain

In the framework of the Erasmus+ programme and the Accredited Project for Staff Mobility on the sector of Adult Education of the National Library of Greece (NLG), the librarian Eftychia Koufakou and the Head of the Cataloging Department Michalis Gerolimos visited the National Library of Spain (Biblioteca Nacional de España, ΒΝΕ) from the 22nd to the 26th of April 2024.

During their stay and visit of the BNE premises, they had the opportunity to learn about the operation of infrastructures and services similar to those of the NLG, to exchange opinions and ideas and to strengthen the relations and prospects of cooperation between the two National Libraries. They job-shadowed the work of the departments/services of catalogues, acquisitions, web archiving, digital literacy, digital collections, and the collaborative network of cultural heritage libraries. The results of the visit can be summarized in the exchange of the know-how and best practices with an emphasis on adult education as well as the highlighting of common practices and options to optimize the work of both libraries.
