6th mobility Erasmus+ to the Finnish Public Libraries Network

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme and the accredited Staff Mobility Project in the field of Adult Education of the National Library of Greece (NLG) and during the period from the 3rd to the 7th of June 2024, Maria Papaefthymiou, Zoi Giannolopoulou, Asimina Nikolaou, Regina Sofou and Sofia Vasilaki, a workgroup from the Public Library Department of the National Library of Greece, conducted a series of visits to various branches of the Finnish Public Libraries Network, as well as to the National Library of Finland – with Oodi Helsinki Central Library being the main host institution.
Throughout their visit, they experienced a fully-fledged culture of trust between the libraries and their public; at the same time, they job-shadowed innovative and user-friendly practices for managing facilities, resources and collections, a wide range of accessibility policies along with their powerful correlations with active citizenship, as well as a variety of user training courses on offer. Finally, they explored the potential for exchange of best practices with a view to upgrade existing and support intended services of the PL Department.
